I love this dining room for several reasons.
I love its simplicity
I love its eclectic nature, blending old and modern
I love the use of contrast
I love the use of art
I love the sculptural (and rectilinear) shapes and forms

It’s a mix of several design elements, as many Scandinavian kitchens are…a little industrial, a little (a lot) modern, a little furniture-like, a little real rustic, and definitely minimalist/simplistic with the shapes and forms telling the story. And let’s not forget white!

Fantastic, huge pattern on the wallcovering juxtaposes tradition and modern design in this showroom kitchen in Copenhagen, in a scale that adds drama and rhythm.
(via thatkitchen) Great example of a fresh, colorful Scandinavian kitchen - a pleasant burst of color and pattern in a scale that makes sense to my eye.
Black and white…modern yet charming…very charming!
I would like to walk through this shop, Fil de Fer, in Copenhagen, again. Antique furniture in a modern home? Of course. Much of the shop is French antiques, but there are Scandinavian pieces as well. One can spend half a day, maybe a full day, in this shop. Image by Susan
A trash can as sculpture…
It drives me crazy to look at it, but I kind of like it…pattern, linear, horizontal, lines everywhere…a visual puzzle. Shot by Susan in Copenhagen
A lovely, and very personal, kitchen..via interior63n.blogspot.
Swoon-worthy dining. Brilliant and stunning to throw those white pieces of furry material on these very sexy Hans Wegner Wishbone chairs. From Emmas Designblogg.
(via cark) Love. This bears mentioning…the white cabinetry blends quietly into the surrounding whiteness. The stars are the social center, the large, warm, table, and the bold, colorful, art. Nice find!
The fewest of lines, in a two tone of white and gray/stainless, to me, it begs the question, it looks like perfection, but can perfection be sustained over time and use? When a modern/perfect/white kitchen becomes worn, what then? The question must be asked!

WHITE-OUT! There is so much white in Scandinavian design. We all know that it comes from the need for reflected light in an effort to endure the long, dark, winter. Must one have white walls and floors to express “the” Scandinavian look? No. Create your own personal interpretation. I do, in my home. It’s enjoyable and can be very interesting too, to view and to understand the elements of Scandinavian design, as shown on this blog, often in its pure vernacular…
but you may want to consider the trees as well as the forest. It’s all good!
