I had the great pleasure of having lunch at the Restaurant Jacobsen in Klampenborg, north of Copenhagen. This is a place where we see a fine patina on classic modern furnishings, designed by Arne Jacobsen, including the flatware…an interesting historical reference and an ode to the beauty of “use and wear.”

Well, here is a question about interpretation. This new blog is about warm, modern, design. It is also about Scandinavian kitchens and design. Does this piece fit into the discussion? Clearly, it is not modern.
BUT, interpretation is everything. The soft color, the WARMTH of the piece covers the word “warm.” Used in a modern kitchen interior with more modern design elements, it may just be the piece that adds the warmth and is looked at more as sculptural in a modern way especially when combined with other super clean lined pieces. Tell me what you think….I see it as a pantry or in the breakfast/dining area.
(Image by Susan) I took this image when I visited the Bruun Rasmussen auction house in Copenhagen on Bredgage. I’m sure it is of Swedish origin.
