Stone, stainless, white, mushroom…neutrals with a cool/warm combination read fresh, modern, and warm. A touch of tradition via the shaker door style, yet it all works together and is a very pleasing look.

Interesting golds and bronze tones within a very modern wood kitchen. Paired with plain and light colored floors and a table, as two horizontal elements, it’s a look for a kitchen that is different than we normally see. It’s very warm.

An industrial Scandinavian kitchen combines white, stainless steel and natural wood cabinetry with a touch of nature in the antlers set above the window. It’s a warm industrial look to my eye.

A green Scandinavian kitchen - green tiles and trim create a flow. I love the shelves, the medium toned wood and the simple walls. I don’t love the floor tile. Simple is good. From Maison Interior - a Scandinavian magazine.

Simple, elegant details in Scandinavian kitchens speak volumes. Note the thin, but elegant, wood countertop cutout surrounding the sink and the thinner than normal drawer front…a very modern look to a traditional framed cabinet. Stunning. Last, interesting door/drawer configurations and a think corian countertop with a super thin sink cutout. Elegant. Simple. Functional.

Wow…what an inspirational, highly personal, kitchen this is. It may not be for everyone, but it surely is one of a kind.

This is a must see post on European kitchens, particularly Belgian. Close enough to Scandinavian in some respects, there is lots of inspiration and simple good taste in the images…don’t miss it!
Definition of eclectic, of style, of a personal design aesthetic. The chair legs and rug are talking to one another, bringing pattern from the floor to the vertical, then moving toward calm. The turquoise chair is artfully placed. From mialinnman.blogspot.com
via www.digsdigs.com The soft shade of gray makes me calm. The fresh, rich, colors of food makes it all so appealing. It’s a virtual monochromatic look which helps the look flow.
It’s a mix of several design elements, as many Scandinavian kitchens are…a little industrial, a little (a lot) modern, a little furniture-like, a little real rustic, and definitely minimalist/simplistic with the shapes and forms telling the story. And let’s not forget white!

So much inspiration below, which can be interpreted into your kitchen design, as seen in and around Copenhagen, photographed by me.
Neutrals…light wood mixed with deep gray, white, black. Think light wood cabinetry, deep charcoal floors, stainless appliances and countertops and white walls.

Red mixed with terracotta and touches of purple/gray with white or cream. Gray cabinetry throughout…white countertops, red walls and red/purple/terracotta accessories. Imagine..

Fantastic, huge pattern on the wallcovering juxtaposes tradition and modern design in this showroom kitchen in Copenhagen, in a scale that adds drama and rhythm.
Classic Hans Wegner amid organized chaos? I love this look…it has spirit. The space should be free of clutter - the mural itself is the emotion.
