“What do you think about Scandinavian design and details for kitchens, dining areas and other areas, based on the images you see in these pages so far? What do you or do you not like about it? Can you see yourself incorporating some of the look into your own home or is it just interesting to look at?”
Maybe an odd place for firewood, but I’m crazy about the built in appliances and storage, gives it a real architectural/permanent feeling. Also love the slender shelf and the division of color which includes the backsplash and countertop being the same color. Very nice. Image by Bonytt magazine.
I think most Americans would never do a kitchen like this…super charming, country style, very traditional accessories, with a sleek cylindrical stainless steel hood. To my eye, the simple cabinetry, although technically a shaker style, sets the tone of a kitchen with clean lines. Interesting to see an uber traditional faucet paired with this very sleek hood. The hood can almost be interpreted as an industrial look. Image from Vakre Hjem
Image of built in shelving (DIY walls built out from the rear wall, above/below/sides) with some of my Scandinavian things (all items shown are mine/not all are Scandinavian) This was photographed for a Better Homes & Gardens feature of my kitchen and styled by editor Cynthia Bogart. Check out her blog!
(via prettyspace) Wow, I no sooner start a blog on Scandinavian Kitchens & Design and I come across this! VERY good info here! Click thru the image
Below is a wonderful sampling of hand crafted ceramics, which I photographed while at a ceramics fair in Copenhagen. I could have bought every single piece, I think. What a great way to add color to the kitchen and push the style more toward soft modern or rustic modern, depending on one’s point of view. (Images by Susan)
