This space makes me feel good.

Stainless steel, turquoise planking, barn wood planking, and look at that floor! This is a very warm kitchen. A bit of a clutter issue, but otherwise super charming.

I like to look at images I’ve taken in Scandinavia and translate colors, textures, and styles to our interiors for design inspiration.
First, I love the combination of the softest white/gray walls combined with charcoal, white, brown and a color accent such as the green or yellow seen in the plants. Serene and calm to my eye, see below:

Wow, below is another inspiring combination, unexpected too…orange/terracotta color paired with soft gray with a blue/green undertone and dark blue accent. I can visualize a floor painted the soft blue/gray color in a kitchen with bright melon walls or isolated accents such as painting the backs of glass cabinets.

And yet another group of traditional Scandinavian colors which can surely be placed into a modern interpretation. Warm oyster gray, soft blue/gray, white and terracotta, perhaps again, as accents. Any combination can be used as kitchen design elements.

More inspiring colors seen in the architecture in Copenhagen. The black and green shades are perfect; imagine using those colors in a kitchen design, with accents of blue, like the door, or soft gray. Green walls in the home, or this fresh green color as countertops over black or gray cabinetry…lots of variations on the theme

A lovely vignette of Scandinavian grays and the contrast of rich wood. It doesn’t take much to make a stunning statement…shot by susan in Copenhagen
A quirky little kitchen showroom display in Copenhagen. Almost a modern country look, with doors that look “applied” to white boxes and shelves with some few items, surrounded by a modern pattern on the walls. All interpretation…
Another example of finding color inspiration elsewhere…how warm would rich, deep, blue/green cabinetry look with walls of creamy yellow? A blue/gray countertop works wonders and the backsplash is up for grabs.. Image by susan
A lovely store in Copenhagen. What strikes me is the color of the lettering against the blue/gray stone facade. I can see those colors, along with white or a soft, warm gray, used as inspiration in a kitchen design. Fun to imagine how… Image by Susan
How gorgeous are these blue and gray colors? (image by Susan) Shot in Copenhagen
Bamboo and blue kitchen from Elle Interior Sweden. A very different way to create kitchen storage on the wall, but the lamp over the cooktop, bad idea. Otherwise, nice!
The interior of Atelier September, a wonderful antique shop in Copenhagen. I think wonderful pretty much says it. The tall, gray, paneled piece against the wall intrigues me. I’m almost wondering if that were installed flat on to a wall, if it would appear to be a piece of cabinetry with real depth, if one opened a door, fooling the eye.
